Learning Enhancement

An education is the key to success. According to the Census Bureau, over an adult's working life, bachelor's degree holders earn about $2.1 million, whereas high school graduates earn an average of $1.2 million. (Day and Newburger, 2002).Yet at early ages, many students are incorrectly diagnosed as having learning disabilities, when in fact the only problem is that they have poor eyesight and can't see the teacher, the blackboard, or the learning materials. As a result many of these students don't further their education or even drop out of school.

Today's classrooms offer additional challenges. College lecture halls have computer projection screens, as well as video and teleconferencing. Many schools offer interactive participation through electronic devices. Of course there will always be that teacher with the poor handwriting and chaotic blackboard presentation skills, with arrows pointing to bubbles, filled with words, random expressions all over the board.

Seeing the blackboard is one thing. But it has little value if the student has to squint to understand what's on it, and ends up with headaches every day after class.

There is a huge difference between seeing and vision. Vision includes our ability to interpret what we see, relate it to what we know, and make sense of it. Poor eyesight can be corrected, but it will not necessarily improve vision. Training one's vision is like exercising any other muscle in the body. Vision enhancement is a developing science that goes beyond just plain seeing, and takes the student to the next level by coaching and vision skills development. The result is better peripheral vision, depth perception, pattern recognition, and other building blocks needed in a superior vision process.

Enhancing your vision also has many rewards on a personal level. A person who has been trained in vision enhancement will probably look at a painting, sculpture, or other object of art with a deeper sense of appreciation and awareness. If the purpose of art is to communicate thoughts, ideas, passions, emotions, and feelings from the artist to their audience, then the entire experience of art appreciation becomes more meaningful to the viewer.
